Below are the links you will need to get the hunting licenses and also the firearms permit for crossing the border.
Federal Game Bird Permit
To hunt migratory game birds in Canada, you must have a valid federal migratory game bird hunting (MGBH) permit on which the Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation (CWHC stamp) appears. The MGBH permit is valid anywhere in Canada. The cost of the MGBH permit (including $8.50 for the CWHC stamp) is $17.00 plus applicable taxes. It is not transferable and can only be used by the person who is named on the permit.
You must be able to show the permit to game officers upon request. To be valid, the permit (physical or electronic) no longer needs to be signed. You must carry the permit with you at all times, either in physical or electronic PDF format, when hunting or when in possession of unpreserved migratory game birds or any murres, in a place other than your residence.
Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit
Firearms
Canada Non-Resident Firearm Declaration Form 5589 – Hunters must fill out the Non-Resident Firearm Declaration Form 5589 before you leave for your hunt. Don’t try and fill it out at the border, this will upset the Canadian Customs officials and their routine. Fill out this form online and then print 3 copies. Double check your firearms details, especially the serial number, before you hit the print button. Do not sign this form until you are at the border and the officials there ask you to sign it. You will need to present the form with your passport. There is a fee for the permit and it is $25 CND. You must pay for your permit in Canadian dollars or by MasterCard, Visa or American Express. Canadian Customs does not except U.S. Currency. Remember to always carry your firearms permit and identification while you are in the field. To obtain your firearms application, download the official Canadian Firearms Program form..
Manitoba eLicensing
Below is the link for Manitoba eLicensing which you will each need to go to and create a customer profile. Once you have your customer profile you will need to provide us with your “Customer ID #”, address and birthdate prior to the hunt as you will be purchasing the Manitoba provincial bird license through Dirty Lake Outfitters. (So there is no need to enter the draw as we are allocated licenses for clients).
